Adoption
Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescued Basset Hound. Bassets are a breed unlike any other. They are very smart yet stubborn and they do things on their own time, but a yummy treat can help be persuasive. They are a very affectionate breed and can never get enough belly rubs.
We are dedicated to finding the best fit homes for our rescued Bassets. Please be sure that you have seriously considered all aspects of adding a new Basset Hound to your family and that all family members are in agreement to the lifelong commitment.

Why adopt a senior?
This was Cleo who lived to be 17 years old in her furever home.
She was adopted at the age of 10 from HCBHR.

To be loved by an older dog is a privilege. Each day is special as you share life, friendship, and love with your new companion. They teach us to see life through their eyes, to watch the sunrise and the sunset, listen to the sound of the birds chirping, and how to open our hearts to truly love. They teach us to enjoy the little things that we all take for granted in our busy day to day lives.
With seniors, what you see is what you get. Seniors can be fun and energetic at times, but are also happy to curl up and take a nap while you read your favorite book or watch your favorite movie. Seniors know that your shoes are for walking and their bones are for chewing on. All dogs live in the "here and now" and want to be your family today. They don't concern themselves with what is happening tomorrow or even if there will be a tomorrow. We are only given one life, so why not make that senior hounds life be filled with a heart full of love?
