From Rescue to Foundation: A New Chapter Begins!
Dear Friends and Supporters,
For more than four decades, High Country Basset Hound Rescue has proudly served Colorado’s canine community through hands-on rescue, medical care, and adoption services. Together, we have saved countless lives and supported families across the state.
As rescue intake numbers have declined statewide and our organization’s mission has evolved, our Board of Directors has unanimously voted to transition High Country Basset Hound Rescue from an operating rescue into a private charitable foundation dedicated to supporting other canine-focused nonprofit organizations across Colorado.
Effective immediately, we will no longer take in new dogs.
Instead, our work will shift toward grantmaking, allowing us to amplify our impact by supporting the many dedicated animal-welfare organizations serving Colorado communities.
The new foundation will:
1.Provide grants to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations
2.Prioritize canine-focused programs and rescue efforts
3.Support emergency medical needs, community education, and welfare initiatives
4.Continue honoring the legacy and generosity of our donors
Our mission remains the same — to improve the lives of dogs in Colorado — and this transition allows us to do so in a more sustainable and far-reaching way.
We will share more information in the coming weeks, including grant application details and how supporters can continue contributing to our work.
We look forward to your continued partnership in this exciting new chapter.
With gratitude,
The Board of Directors
